Burning

The world, every time we look out, seems on fire.

The list is endless of the horrible things that exist: the pandemic, poverty, children murdered in school, overt and systematic racism, lack of equality for basic human rights, the loss of bodily autonomy, war and the war crimes happening in Ukraine, Aleppo, Afghanistan earthquakes, the Taliban, and more and more and more. Hardships, horrors, and sad things fill the world we live in. It is fucking weird to march on knowing that we are just a moment away from immeasurable heartache and pain.

Yet, we’re still here.

So today I thought about the sky the other night after all the rain. Then I thought about what we can do. Even if it’s not enough, all I could come who with is the thing I always do:

“Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can.”

And hope that there’s enough of us to make the world less awful.
